Wow people acting like white is wrong, the change in skin color is part of the storyline. I don't think the author is being racist but is showing the difference between the time she was black and now white.

No one is acting like being white is wrong. It’s ridiculous how someone can change skin tone just because they have the light spirit and truthfully if you think of it a certain way since she was darkskin and only had the dark spirit king in her at the time she was considered bad and evil but now that she have the light spirit in her and is white skinned she is considered good and heroic. Hell even her parents was avoiding her but now that she white the parents are begging for forgiveness. Who cares if the change in skin color is a part of the storyline anyone would be upset if the characters they love/relate to change skin tones. There really wasn’t any meaning for her to change skin tones. Plus they could have deepened the plot if she was still dark skinned and people was still wary and opposed to her but now that she white people would definitely start falling for her.

ikr...? it's not solely about the color change, but how the author portrayed the story.

so in order to be elevated, accepted & loved by society, all u have to do is whiten ur skin. for us dark skinned girls who went through the discrimination that the fmc went through just because of the shade of our skin, it's like putting a knife through our hearts...

Agree and it’s definitely is teaching a bad lesson for younger and impressable dark skinned children. Having them believe that if you’re not lighter you won’t be accepted. I’m sure the author meant well but the way they protray the story was just really bad. They could have made her hair white or put a mark on her body but just completely changing her skin tone was just a really bad way to continue the story and anyone would be upset by it. The author definitely isn’t racist but they should have thought more about it before changing her skin tone.
