This is my problem with it. Ok, yeah, they're kids and they where abused and they have trust issues. Got it. You can basically argue away every dumb decision they make with "they have trust issues", which is fine. But it starts to fall apart when you look at all the dumb decisions they made at the same time and realize the reasons they made each one kinda contradict one another. It just starts to feel less like scared kids making dumb decisions on faulty reasoning and more like the author having them trust or distrust people based on what will cause the most drama...
I'm a bit angry. I want to say this is what you get for trusting people you shouldn't but I won't because they're still kids. I get that they're angry at the royal family and rightly so, but are they seriously just going to ignore even the second prince who got so exhausted because of them? That's on another level.
Second of all, seriously, why are they so freaking attached to Riolu? It's like they imprinted on him or something. This is probably one of the few (very few) times I've felt detached from the MCs and I usually have a bias towards MCs. Tsk, tsk.
