I think the duke and his majesty were "friends" atleast what the duke think but not the emperor, and its obvious that the emperor have privilege.. and yeah her last self was stupid and it seems like she was brainwashed
Rather than stupid, it appeared to me that she was completely brainwashed into, as she put it, a "loyal dog."
That’s unfair, we all know how easy it is for a parent figure to brainwash a child especially one that has gone through loss or trauma
For a father who supposedly died of illness, it's already suspicious enough that they didn't even gave your father a gravestone and a proper burial. Her past self must be stupid enough to even trust the emperor even though he treats her like a trash and insults her directly at her face.
