I think it was her father who killed her in the past, Claude actually I trying to forcefully forget something (with magic) and his brother just had put a curse on him, that's why Claude could kill athy so easily in the past, she didn't even try to get attached to him and he was under a curse, probably inflicted by his brother and that's how Claude died too in the end
Maybe Athanasia will connect the dots from her dream. In the dream Claude was passed out/dead with Jeanette next to him remember? And in the dream what looked like a second Claude told Jeanette to get up or something (my memory isn’t the best) I think what happened was Anastacius(or however you spell his name) was posing as Claude as Claude was suffering the curse of black magic. I don’t think the one who killed real Athanasia was actually Claude, I think it was Anastacius. Maybe that’s why Real Athy was so broken when ‘Claude’ said he never thought of her as his daughter.
