I’m not the best at explaining but I’ll try...so I think basically he is refraining to his “youth” as gold in chapter 5 bc it’s the colour of Himari hair. He can be who he truly is with Himari and gets to be happy & spend time with him. In short Himari is his symbol for “youth”. Hope you could understand what I meant. And if i remember it correctly the word 'youth' in japanese have 'blue' character so people associates youth with blue color, while himari have golden hair/golden hair and gaku said it that himari is his youth so thats why it is gold
