Well to me the give away was chapter 56, pages 36-37, when he asked YiYun if he had any skin care products and YiYun said no and Xingya yelled that he kne he couldn’t rely on a man and followed it up with, and I quote: “I shouldn’t have expected much from a STRAIGHT guy like you!” That was pretty much saying “I’m not straight,” in my opinion.

While you are right that he never said “I’m gay,” he did openly talk about his ideal man that he wanted to date. It was when he realized that YiYun and Jinyao were meant to be and he decided to ship them, even though that part of the conversation went over YiYun’s head.
