Are you part of the LGBTQ+ community ? I get what you’re saying, duck the public’s views on us. But some people do care a lot about it. And they can’t control it sometimes. There are homophobic people who will literally hunt homosexuals down and kill them. Simply from a peck on the cheek to say goodbye. It’s a scary world. And it’s up to the person how much they choose to show to the world or not. It’s just something a same sex couple should communicate between themselves when they are together.
sure there is brainwashing to think that “he will be happy in a het relationship” but who are you to judge what couples or any individual does. Not every decision they think is good is good.
Sometimes letting a person go is best. And sometimes it’s not. It’s not just some black and white situation. Especially for gay couples who face discrimination because of their sexuality.
I know this is just fiction. But don’t say this to the LGBTQ community. Because you’re just practically calling them pathetic for caring about what other people think. And you’re just invalidating the thoughts, opinions and feelings that they have towards the situation and the person. That’s how I feel at least when I read your comment. Consider the setting. I don't know where you are from, but LGBT+ acceptance isn't the same in western countries and in Asian countries. It isn't illegal there, but people might look at you like you've grown 3 more legs, and it might ostracize you from society, work, social circles, your family, the neighbourhood and literally everything.
I lived in a country where it was straight up illegal. I must say I did, myself, break up with my girlfriend at the time cuz I thought she would be happier with a man, not being ostracized or worse, arrested. So I get where the characters are coming from.
