She was 17 when she had him, and I think 25, when she died.
I'm not trying to justify her actions but she was too young to have made any good judgement, and only when she finally matured enough, did she realize she was wrong but by then it was too late.
(....and I think his father is more of an ass than his mother anyway. She didn't abuse him or force him to do anything.)
Agreed. Not everyone can be mature at 17

*sigh* i don't need to read the spoilers to know he's just emotionally stunted(with good reason) and is trying to protect her in his own way.
Look...i understand she's trying her best to make up for how horrible she was in the past, but emotional neglect is not pretty.
My parents don't treat me as bad as his do and i still hurt about a lot of things.
I can't help it, but parents like that absolutely disgust me.
