yeah I agree it was important at the time and he needed the backing of a duke to win, but I also don't think it was right of him to wait so long to send her a letter and then expect her to be okay with waiting 5 years for something that's not even certain.
It’s not evil for him to choose power over her BUT it was evil for him to lead her on without informing her immediately of his plans. It’s evil of him to lead another woman on, marrying her whilst planning her demise. It’s evil of him to expect Latil to wait 5 years for him- wasting time she could spend happy. He probably does worse after since the start insinuates that he takes multiple concubines.
Tbh, I kinda see where the dude is coming from. He needed the power to win, and I dont know if he would be willing to give up everything just for love.
The FL has ALL the right to dump him and break up, but the I dont think the dude is entirely downright evil for choosing victory for the time being.
