So, the emperor IS the ML. But a lot of time passes and many events as well. I will tell but proceed carefully.
After Rose is gone, the FL actually tries leaving her empress seat. I don't know exactly the circumstances, but it was her plan all along it seems. Though, it's nearly impossible renouncing as the empress (I believe it has to do with laws and else) unless there's an extreme issue at hand (illness maybe?). The ML persuades her endlessly so she won't abandon it, and he's also doing his best to win her love.
Around chapter 64 of the manhwa (I saw raws he) he's already trying to get closer to her, the FL keeps pushing him aside coldly and it's actually nice to see hehe. Rose's ending is not that far I assume ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
