If the story turns into romance we as the readers can only hope that the whoever the mc ends up with isn't useless and the have actual chemistry, and not some sudden romance where the just fell in love. Also we can only hope if there is romance, the plot won't shift and focus on the romance.
The overall narrative does not seem to be suitable for a romance-focused storytelling so I doubt it would happen. But MC having a wife and family will not ruin the story that focused on habing a family in the first place.

not really, usually lovers of the mc is a burden that makes them a weakness and that freaking makes the mc choose a stupid decision and the rage fit or something is stupid whenever their lover gets hurt or put in critical condition, lmao.
