Ugh it's been a while since I read that bit of the chapters, but what I got from it is that Eclet is the daughter of the emperor's brother who was the previous emperor so that makes her the true heir and princess while our MC and her brother are children of the brother who is on the throne now. They are cousins and by rights of the throne they'd be under the "duke" rank as next to claim the throne if Eclet didn't exist or does not survive.
It's a mess really, but it does make sense if you pay attention to the story when she explained it, but if you don't know how royal hierarchy and true lineage works it just goes to the waste bin. I've read so many that it just sits there in storage like "I'll be useful one day, watch!"

It's because of who Eclet's mother was. That makes her the true daughter. It's a weird logic due to their religious beliefs even though it should be by blood, but that's our mind's logic when we go on that subject.
