I think you mean castrate, circumcision is not as bad as you think it’s just removing the foreskin.
Castrating is either the ‘thing’ gets cut off or where the ‘fertilizer’ is stored gets cut off, it varies on where you are though.
So castrating is probably the punishment you were thinking of
