Yeah, I know what you mean. Hydra is such a long and complicated series, and it's been awhile since I've read it. Plus I'm not even finished reading Rules, but I can at least give my interpretation on Hydra 1+2+3+4's ending, which probably won't be accurate since my memory's fuzzy.
From what I could tell, Hitomi and Ryuu do not end up together even though they both love each other, and I think it was because Ryuu thought he would not be able Hitomi happy. Maybe they get together in a later volume of the series. Hitomi and Taira go out with each other for awhile, but they drift apart and eventually break up. They'd actually loved each other, but both knew that Hitomi would always love Ryuu, and that affected their relationship more than they thought it would. Even though, they break up, they still sometimes get together as sex friends, but that eventually fizzles out too.
If I remember correctly, Rules focuses on Taira's story afterwards.
Yea, it's friggin sad, and I don't get it you got 2 people who love each other well one of them had troubles are dammit, whenever I remember it I get mad I also dropped all the mangas from this author after that,...I'm still angry lol
