Have you read the Fruits Basket manga? Because a lot of people complain about Tohru, but the reason she’s so nice actually has to deal with trauma and she has a lot of flaws that make her relatable. She understands what the zodiac members are going through because she is also experiencing her own trauma and is able to relate to them and help them change. She copes by hiding her feelings with a smile. She tries to see the best in everyone, but she can’t see it in herself. To Tohru her mom was everything to her so after she died Tohru couldn’t cope properly, and felt like if she helped other people and gave them advice her mom gave her it would be like her mom is still alive. Sorry for the long explanation I just feel like people dismiss Tohru as an unrealistically nice character too often when there’s a lot more to her than what meets the eye.
I understand she’s going through some shiii but I just wish should would express herself more. I just want to see her mad or some type of emotions other than that smile. Maybe I’ll read the manga to try to understand her more or start the second season (super off topic but I wish Yukis voice was girly in the remake. I haven’t watched much of the newer one because his manly voice was a turn-off lolol)
