John and Annetta are not actually related. John actually IS the devil that Annetta prayed to. Long story short her mother made a deal with the devil because she couldn’t bare a son, so the devil became one and over time he and Annetta fell in love with each other. But because Annetta doesn’t know the truth about John, she thinks it’s incest. The only real creepy relationship in this story is between the nanny (who took care of the kids) and the younger brother
