Yeah I definitely have to say she really lacks a good excuse for the neglect. Like even if she worked a lot, she could clearly have shown more interest in her son and he clearly recalls her not caring about him. While little things like making him food while he was sick could be an act of love, she could have done that a lot more if so or little things anyway. And she dismisses him more now when she sees him so clearly still not a good mother or at least rejecting her role as one
Re-read it 3x today. Yoshiro and Shougo are goals, Yoshiro's mom is the best... still hate Ukie right now I don't even care what kind of "tragic" backstory she has, bish I never had my mom's cooking because she worked overseas all my childhood, but i never doubted my mom's love for me because I've always felt it, it doesnt matter if she was on the other side of the world, I got to celebrate with my mom because she called/skyped me. My mom made time for me even if I didn't grow up with her, I always felt love and important, and was never ignored.
Poor Shougo, but don't worry, you're Yoshiro's person now, his mom is your mom.
