Well yeah. I understand where you're coming from but I honestly don't think this case is as bad as your examples. because as the MC knows, the brother isn't the kind of person who would do this. I believe the brother is just trying to find his resolve so that at least in the future he has seen, MC wouldn't die a dog's death. kinda like the greater good thing. of course I'm not saying this is the best way, but I still think it's understandable on the brother's part. we have to take into account the world their living in too. I'm sure there would be better ways but for the way he chose, I don't think he's that bad of a guy.
