Fair warning though. The novel is super dark. It makes this webtoon look like a unicorn sliding on a rainbow.
The details are much more darker and you'll get really infuriated by the patriarchy at times.
It's a very realistic novel. Historically accurate too.
Some things that were not emphasized enough here:
1.) Lucius is a FUCKBOI. He never refuses a woman who offer herself to him. (Eventually, he'll feel so ashamed about this since Poliana knows all about the women he bedded during and after the war)
2.) Ainno is a HUGE JERK. He even knocked off one of Poliana's molars and broke her nose.
3.) Rape.
It's super dark so prepare yourselves

It's such a shame because even though the first part of the book is littered with misfortune, the second part is where Poliana finally finds her happiness and gets what sh deserves.
It's a very beautiful novel.
(The novel isn't that explicit. I may have come across too strong. But yeah, Poliana's past was very unfortunate but she pulled through and her life became a legend)
