I really love Tess as a character. Yes when she was younger she was a tad annoying, but she is just in love with him. Like is this the basis for everyone's hate? All the other girls are plain and too ordinary for the male lead. Tess is a beautiful elf princess. She is powerful and her grandpa is his mentor. Furthermore, she is a perfect female lead as she is strong and independent. Unlike others, she had a pure, natural talent and rose with her own efforts. I will fight anyone who says otherwise. I love her! (▰˘◡˘▰)
For some it's internalized misogyny, for some it's plain mysogyny and for some it's just the fact that they liked the story for what it is and got attached to the very action focussed story and don't like it being romance.
But I agree with you on this one as someone who likes all genres, not bothered by romance and we love some love interest/rival interactions in this household.
I don't read the novel so I don't know (and hope they won't) about how well they will portray Tess.
Will they give her the classic annoying-ish love interest role that's only there to be a love interest (because for some reason shounen-like comics love to do that to their women)? Or will they make her a strong woman who will properly develop herself that is worthy of standing besides the mc?

yeah, I like tess as well, but the author wrote her so poorly, its like her whole world revolves around art.
