It simply boils down to their unpreparedness for a child when they were still children themselves, on top of some family members loss. They are both at fault here, but now their backstories are told, we understand how things went to shit, but ofc we don't condone the child neglect. They are all victims as well and really, pointing fingers who did worse is not what they need because 15 years has already passed. We can just hope that this second time around, they can mend their relationship. Poor Vincent needs to feel he is loved & wanted.

Also moral of the story: don't make kids if you're not ready. Unlike the story's era, we have contraceptives now guys, be safe out there.

but sometimes kids are made by accident
and i’m pretty sure in this era/ in the story there is no such thing known as contraception and wven them i dont think it would be distributed to married couple or nobility

Uhm I know, that's why I said "unlike this story's era..." My reminder was for ppl like us, who have access to birth control. Ofc ppl would have different reception of an unplanned child, but there are a lot of cases where it leads to child neglect like this story, hence my mention of the story's lesson.
