From wht i’ve read, this is my own interpretation. Basically, i think that Lancelot did love the original charlotte because he was willing to do any by img for her sake just to make her happy, even if he wasn’t happy and that is wht i call love, however due to the fact that the fl loved Lancelot from reading the book she wanted to b different from the original charlotte and become happy with Lancelot which is why she ‘showered him in love’. Also, original charlotte was the first person who accepted Lancelot for who he was and that was his magic, but he never showed her his full potential and i don’t know the reason for tht. He fell in love with the fl because she didn’t leave him like the original charlotte did and if i’m not mistaken he read her mind or smth for one scene and found out that she loved him so he thought that he could love her as well which brings us to chpt 30. I think Lamcelot feels betrayed as the real charlotte just left him with no explanation so he decided to forget about her and focus of our do. Sorry i kinda went on a rant and hope this makes sense
So did Lancelot want to be loved by the original Charlotte in particular or did he just want to be loved/ needed by someone in general? Because if it’s the first I don’t understand how fl thought it would be ok to pretend to be Charlotte and shower him with love because when Lancelot found out it wasn’t really her wouldn’t he be heartbroken?
I think it’s the latter option though, so then he wasn’t really in love with Charlotte to begin with, but latched onto her as a child (?) and wanted her to love him... so he wanted a mother figure then?? That could explain why he easily accepted our fl/ fell in love with her when she showed him unconditional affection?
I’m very confused with Lancelots feelings towards the real Charlotte right now.
