No, the girl's mum was in love with her husband but he cheated on her and she told all those depressing things to her, which is why she wants to marry Jeremy, who seems to neither want nor give love. Only that she seems to realize before him that he may feel something for shuli, making her think that the same thing that happened to her parents would happen to her too. At least that's what I got from this chapter ^-^
Oh since the person in the beginning had blonde hair and was walking with red headed woman I assumed they were Jeremy's dad and mom since I don't know any other read haired woman....
I reread it and it might not have been red hair. Also Jeremy's mom had short hair I think...
