If you’re asking about the conversation with the empress dowager, then the empress is looking down on Mildred for thinking about making profit from the dress rights. The empress believes that it should be done out of good heart, and later you’ll be rewarded. On top of that, she thinks Mildred should share. In response, Mildred says in her head that the empress in naive because the aristocrats don’t do any of what the empress says. So she confronts the empress that why should she share to those who already have more than her? Shouldn’t they be sharing to her? like Mildred would not have a problem with sharing if they also did, but it’s just naive to share when they don’t have much. Then at the end, Mildred is hinting that women are prone to falling down the wrong path because their society is one where woman cannot thrive and support themselves. So they need a man to rely on, hence marrying at a young age or fall into temptation of being mistresses.
