The mana shield the monster was using doesn’t appear to cover the eyes which is why it always defended when an attack was directed there, I also could have been the general head area not just the eyes but I’m not sure
The reason he blocked is because his mana can't cover his head so it needs to defend it, which is why he blocked. Every other attack he didn't block because it was a body shot and his mana protected it well enough
He noticed that this giant only defended himself when tusk spell aimed towards his face. So he thought that maybe his eyes were his weak point.
