Probably because she's pretty (which I've just known now). That might be a blow to her pride. And I don't really expect Yoneda Kou to pull of the annoying girl card. Just no.
Personally, I find her reaction cute. The shock on her face, with disappointment made the whole thing light and comical. Since Take is kind of oblivious or just really considerate of his friend's feelings for the girl, it made him a real gentleman the way he rejected her. I really love the fact that he's practical. It's adorable. I guess Komatsu was just immature that time when she confessed and I think she's ready to be rejected thus settling for the buttons. She might be expecting Take to give her the buttons since he rejected her, that was probably what she was thinking. Too bad, family comes first. :p I am glad that she's gotten over it because a woman, and Shou's cousin at that having some feelings for Take is a bit annoying. So, everything is going smoothly.
What on earth is wrong with Komatsu? If someone told me they can't give me the button of their shirt 'cause they need to pass it on to their brother I'd find it adorable as fuck lol
