Nah i believe he knew about Remme's powers but never mentioned them because of their promise. So when the others wanted him out of the group the only reason Phoenix could defend him was by saying that they were friends, because if he just said that he is stronger than you think then the others would want proof, but after some time the other three decided to kick Remme out and the excuse "we are friends so he is staying" wouldn't have worked because the if not the group would always end up fighting and would self-destruct. I think Remme understood that so he willingly left before it was too late.
no that literal two three pages of them realizing he was superior is not enough for me. i need them to know they lost the most POWERFUL black mage who was personally trained by a demon king. i hope when they meet again they seriously agonize over the fact that they weren’t worthy enough of such a great power and then ultimately get crushed by the hands of someone they thought was incompetent. also that hero is full of shit. i don’t understand how bella, a newcomer, could finally let the group realize remme’s role benefitted them before the hero actually could....
