Is it wrong for me to want the bullies to apologize to him? Not to just gloss over it? Also, I'm happy they're developing feelings but I can't help but think of how he just ignored the bullying. I know he had no ill intentions but he knew they were bullying him because he said something to Xiao Mu. I just wish for Xiao Mu to be fully relieved of the trauma and for his past to be resolved. Bullying hurts and can really impact one's life.

I read the novel long ago but I think the ending will satisfy you somewhat (not sure if the bullies get punished though)
