I was thinking even though he likes her he might do something later like betray her (much further in the story of course) because she might fall for someone else and he'd want her for himself.

And since they were discussing who the demon king might be I was thinking Human rather than elves and dragons, mostly because they didn't mentiion that possibility (probally through arogance, but still). I hope she'll be able to meet the dragons and elves ^^
