i think it’s because religion has always been a tool for some people to manipulate the masses. if you think about it, people like to justify their actions in the name of their god.

Oh yes. Religion somehow controls laws in my country. Marriage and rights is the only thing I know they’re able to control tho. Divorce isn’t allowed in my country as the Catholic Church says that “only God can bound man and woman and only God separate man and woman” so once you marries some1 in my country, you ain’t able to divorce them unless you file an annulment. Also, last year, LGBTQ+ people was almost not given their rights because of straight humans and the Catholic Church. Idk about other country tho. I was able claim that statement because of my own country’s government situation

Oh sht, that's actually horrible. I can understand your point of view and how some or a large group individuals would influence that. Religious manipulation of the masses is really twisted. However, i do believe that there's nothing terrible about the religion itself (unless it promotes things like murder and genocide and sht like that). Sometimes the people who run it/are in power give a faith (that many or few people who wholly and genuinely believe in that religion) a bad rep. I would like to think that, in your case for example, not all those who are Catholic Christian in where you live are controlling arses, as the main foundations of the christian faith are actually quite beautiful. It's only that the meaning is often lost in people who claim to be one thing and do the opposite...it's honestly just saddening to see
