I think a little bit of both. The primary drive was their probably mates, since the “electricity” happens every time they touch, but in order to convince the parents he relied on the impressiveness of riku overall. Just a guess
That makes sense I always got the impression that as soon as he saw riku at the party he already decided it would be him who was his mate but I don’t see a reason why the parents wouldn’t have agreed if he straight up said he wanted their son since in omegaverse the parents treat their kids as bargaining chips
When he made the deal with the parents that the son would work for him was that just him making the deal so he could make riku his mate or was he actually impressed by riku like he said?
