WHY IS HE WEARING THE IMPERIAL JAPANESE FLAG IN THE 21ST CENTURY IM SOBBING oh right, I remember, it's because Japan refuses to teach their history properly about how they enslaved, murdered, sold Koreans into sex trafficking, made it illegal to speak Korean, burned museums, etc, during their Imperial Japanese days. And that's just what they did to Korea.
PSA: The Imperial Japanese flag is akin to what the hooked cross is to Germany. It represents the period of history where Japan was bloodthirsty, killed the indigenous people of Japan (the Ainu), murdered and enslaved people of various countries, etc. etc. Various Japanese politicians have tried to make it so Japanese history is taught accurately, but it doesn't work and many have had to leave the political sphere due to harassment for not being "patriotic" enough. Imagine living in a country and not even knowing that there were indigenous people in it. Imagine not knowing that the reason you have bad trade relations with Korea is because your ancestors were enslaving that country less than a century ago, killing people for even speaking Korean. Imagine thinking that the flag that represented that period of time was a flag that represented bravery, and not the unjust murder and slavery done on your homeland.
Yeah, anyways, gross!!! Please don't romanticize the Imperial Japanese Flag. I don't blame the author for not knowing since the Japanese government is hella fucked up in regards to nationalism and censorship, but like,,, this is just to anyone willing to read this.
