I haven’t read the novel for a while.
the doctor kept pushing for the taran legacy to continue, and well since the taran family can be only multiplied (?) by incest, the doctor plans to have damien marry lucia and hugo's child, oh and the fact that hugo doesn't want his legacy continued so he's annoyed that the doctor still kept pushing and will try to get close to lucia

I believe he wanted the Duke to continue preserving their bloodline through Damien. And what this means is that he wants Hue and Vivian to have babies so that Damien can have a bride and continue their family lineage. Basically, he wants them to continue their practice of inc*st and Hue is afraid the Doctor will approach Vivian to convince her about this. And that is why we don't like him.
