I will not judge Giovanetta. Those who call her weak? I suppose she is weak in a way but can you imagine being in her shoes? She's been a pawn all her life. Blamed, trapped, beaten, accused, manipulated. And yet she hasn't lost her mind. Even in this daze she is trying to rationalize what's going on. The poor girl is being beat every day for everything and nothing and wonders if her delirium had led her to slip up and cause the old man's rage. And now her other half, John, her brother and probably her reason for living and being able to stay somewhat sane just got SHOT IN THE NECK by her abuser. After she tried to keep him away for his so-believed benefit. Winfried, her son-in-law, the old man, are all gears trying to turn at the same time and are ruining her. Our poor girl. She deserves so much better. Life has been so cruel to her. I really choked up when Anette called out to John about the sea there in the end.
That realization panel with the light on his eyes was *chef's kiss*
