Yea after this, all sects will turn against him. His brother too will resent him for abandoning his own sect to help others (and I also think he was egged on by others). Then there will be the epic fight where Lan Zhan and Wei Ying face off and where he falls from the cliff T_T

Actually he won't be falling off the cliff, but taken away wounded from the battle by Lan Zhan, and after they're separated there will be a siege on the Burial Mounds and Wei Ying will die while destroying the Stygian Tiger seal.
The cliff scene was only in the Netflix drama, so I believe that the manhua will follow the novel with a little a different storyline. In the novel Wei Ying's death is not "shown", but rather told as a rumour by other people.
Later on the novel it's revealed that after Lan Zhan took Wei Ying away to a nearby cave, he confessed his feeling to him but Wei Ying was too out of it to listen. And then he died while Lan Zhan was locked up for his actions and never got to say goodbye.

I will tell you more spoilers if you want more pain so since Lan Zhan confessed to Wei Ying who was about to die (if I remember correctly), Lan Zhan always thought Wei Ying knew of his feelings and it was because of that that (after being reborn) he was always getting close to him. Turns out Wei Ying never knew and it broke Lan Zhang's heart when he found out. ╥﹏╥ They resolve everything quickly though. But it was really sad to read that part.
