if you have to turn every other character into a villain just to make the ML seem tolerable—when he’s already the worst of the bunch—then yeah, you’re definitely on the wrong side of storytelling
you wouldn’t need to sabotage the 2nd ML if your precious ML wasn’t rotten from the inside out
