Tho to be fair, w/out the death of the crown prince and the sister I don't see how the story could've progressed w/out coming out generic. Yes, there would be plenty of fluff and wholesomeness but maybe beyond Mc growing up w/c could be wrapped up in like a chapter or 2 - I don't see how the story could extend more plot wise
