All Might's master and the previous owner of One For All was Nana Shimura - the woman with dark hair in the recent chapter. Because she was a hero, she had to leave her family which made her son Kotaro (Shigaraki's dad) hate heroes since he felt like he was abandoned by his own mother. This is also why Kotaro was so abusive to Shigaraki during his childhood. And why Shigaraki also learned to hate heroes.
Grandmother had a husband and even conceived a child, a son. The boy's father was killed by AFO's followers in order to enraged Nana. When that child was about 4 years old, she send him to an orphanage to keep him same, and out of AFO's reach. She later then fought against AFO... (you know the rest)
Her son blamed the hero society and the citizens. He had lost his mother after his father. He did found a good foster family but his hatred blind him for years to come. When this man got married and had kids of his own, he forbid his household to use quirks, look up at heroes and practically socialized.
He brutally abused his children, specifically Shigaraki, because he was stubborn about being a hero. One night Shigaraki's sister showed him Nana's picture and things turned south. The father caught the siblings with the picture, the first lied about giving Shigaraki the picture, his mother tried to make Shigaraki understand his father, his grandparents (mother's side) also ganged up on him. In that same night, Shigaraki left with his dog to the backyard to silently cry his heart out. Unfortunately, he manifested his quirk when his heart, mind were confused and extremely hurt-- as when a child says "I'm sad, I hate you! Don't come near me!!" -- his quirk followed his words... His quirk can create life as well as bring death, but in that moment he overused "decay". He murdered his entire family --his dog was the first one to die-- and tried to find someone to be his "hero". Just moments before the father died, the father realized that the danger his mother had tried to protect him from, he had become just that to his family, to his little boy.
After roaming the streets for a couple of weeks, AFO found him and gifted him his family's hands for him to use.
