Back in the day when we said that women had NO RIGHTS. It is 100% true. You were the property of ur father then ur husband. There were so many things you were denied and one of them is banking without a man. So for what ever reason you needed money( ur man was so bad with money or he is abusive, which by law he had right to an certain extent , and you needed to run away) Women would need to liquid their possessions. Oh and all of the furniture and plates and what not is part of the house ak the man's stuff. What did women have? Their clothes and jewelry. Guess which would help the women more???

In my culture, I'm a palestiniam bedouin (bedouins are nomadic folks of the middle east), but it appeals to all of middle eastern culture, Gold is very important to us bc we could always use it as trust fund in case we needed money.
