I think u read my comment wrong… I wasn’t saying ppl were ‘weak’ for disliking the ML, just newly tired of this annoying trope. tho I will agree that readers these days do also have decreasing media literacy and a tendency to associate everything into a binary of absolute good (things they like) vs absolute evil (things they dislike, things that are even mildly different, and characters with motivations that aren’t blatantly spelled out for their convenience)
