It was so interesting to see young Hari fight to not be neglected and to find her place in the family in the early chapters... But the romance just seems so stiff and boring now. The art is gorgeous, so it's better than let's say "Iris", which was also a promising flop... But Johan was so sincere. He really would have made a better lead. Eugene and Hari just seem flat together. That and the author is really dragging out the "everyone views us as siblings so we can't date!" thing and it's just.... So tiring. If they inserted some opposition to Hari living as their sister, and had background characters discuss how she really seemed like the bride of the eldest family, or a daughter in-law picked in advance, or even commentary about how she looks so different from the brothers, it would be easier for the romance to progress. All the effort they made in the early chapters for her to be accepted as their sister is just impeding the romance... Just scrap the romance... I always bring up viridescent crown when talking about the romance of this manga, and how VC did the adopted siblings become lovers trope so much better, less creepy, and less pseudo-incesty. Because we've got "The Devil" which is literally incest bc they came from the same womb, and that's dealing with sin and the devil, and forbidden taboo arts and stuff... And there's a demographic that likes that kinda messed up stuff?? But just not this one, you know? I tried so hard to flip my opinion on it, bc yeah they aren't related, Hari and Eugene, but they ACT EXACTLY LIKE the siblings in The Devil. Which is PURE incest. If they had different attitudes... It wouldn't feel so icky to read...

I think its cause of how the mc deals with things like both mc and Ciel are pretty much doing right things in the wrong way kinda like that
It's also a pretty boy protagonist, set in a visually similar time period, using dark magic, and I feel like they have similar reactions to affection, so similar personality. Obviously it's not as good/developed as BB, but it's got similar flavor, so fans of BB who are looking for something in a similar vein to read, would probably like this
