This chapter is supposed to be Ilay realizing he does semi have feelings for Tay (the same chapter he literally punches Tay in the stomach). I’ve asked around to those who have read the book and apparently the dynamic stays like that. I mean I wouldn’t expect a killer to be lovey dovey but it’d be nice if he made an exception or at the very least shows he has a soft spot for Tay

as someone who reads the novel, ilay is getting better, ilay and zhenya are both the same when it comes to their development, i can say that ilay is even better in the 2nd and 3rd novel, its just in the 1st novel that he is kinda ass
