and well, we've had a lot of transmigration stories already that the novel characters are not what they seem like in reality and that many things happened that was not said in their respected novels.
thinking back to that chapter where MC visited the original FL of their world, they had a talk about the poison thingy and that original FL is not bad as well, they're friends. so it got me thinking that, the original Haewon is much like how is haewon now, she's just more honest and upright compared to the previous Haewon who's cunning and eccentric in many ways.
and maybe, she doesn't really have any feelings for the namgoong shet, I can see her as someone who does not have any martial arts power would try to make their marriage happen just for power and status so that she can have a say in their family.
She's a villainess indeed because she lived and followed her own virtues. Indeed she's done a lot apart from the poisoning incident but that's in the line of her being noble in status and from which family she came from. her being haughty is justified, she's rich and have a powerful family.
I don't think she's an idiot as well, like how the novel says that she listens and just accepts her fiendish stepmother's whispers. she didn't look like that in the flashback. and before the Mc even transmigrated, she didn't try to redeem herself and clear her name like what jealous and brainless cliché villainess would have done. I think that maybe she thought that unnecessary because she don't feel compelled to clear her name. And maybe another thought is that she share the same sentiment with the original FL as they're both powerless women that couldn't even dare to chase their dreams so as experiment, if the original FL was able to change her fate by drinking the poison, maybe a change of tide would happen to her as well...
