The way I see it, is that she really had no one when she married that trash king. She married a man who refused to love her, who left her alone and spoke coldly to her, and she had no one around her but maids and felt no love for a child that wasn’t hers because she realized she would never receive the love she felt was due to her as a married woman. Like it definitely wasn’t okay for her to act the way she did and she was definitely horrible, but I can see the mental toll that could take on someone. ╥﹏╥

Which makes the case that, if he knew the OG stepmother had abused his daughter in other ways too he would have stopped her or prevented her from doing so, even TIGHTER.
