The way I interpretted was that he had all these girls because he didn't have the courage to tell Miyuki (inos friend with the hair) that he liked him. He looks like hes gonna message him and bails and meets up with a girl instead.

Idk if this apply to you, but not liking the ecchi scene does not equal to not liking the story as well, i think that's fairly common? I can enjoy the plot/story while not liking/ having an interest on ecchi scenes. Also i've no idea that there was a cencored version, so sorry again about that.
