Jesse just wants to be together with Law like everyone normally would be (in i guess a romantic way?)
Law is too anxious if he's not worthy enough to be with Jesse. He is too anxious if Jesse ignores or hates him. Thats why he wants to be superior or taking control or wants to be equal.
I tried to summarize THE WHOLE PLOT but then fuck that.

The story is confusing because as the story explains what really happens, the order of events gets really messy.
