if you're so good go translate some yourself

Whoa aggressive. I didn't insult the translator in any way, I was merely pointing out a mistake. Why does everyone think corrections are so negative? If I was this translator I would be happy to learn the phrase for future reference.
And yes I am good at English since it's my first language, but I don't know Japanese so I could not translate it myself. Hence why I'm not just reading the raws.

you're completely right, and as someone whose first language is not English I rather be corrected than continue to make the same mistake. It's plain embarrassing when you realize you've been saying/writing an expression or word wrong when a one-time correction could have made the difference. Like when I used to think that bear in verb form was pronounced like beer (for some reason I thought bear the animal and bear the verb were pronounced differently, go figure), imagine my embarrassment when I discovered the truth. I know, sounds idiotic, but most of the English I knew was written English and so when I began to learn as a ESL student the transition from writing to speaking was difficult, still is really, since many of the words I learn come directly from the books and the pronunciation isn't always so obvious

It's kind of like if you have food on your face but no one tells you so you discover it when you get home and feel super embarrassed that it was there the whole day!

"Egging me on" is such a strange phrase when you think about it. My first year of college I had roommates from Hong Kong and Japan. They asked me to explain what words and phrases meant all the time (and where certain sayings came from), because they wanted to be able to use them correctly when they spoke English. I've always been a bookworm, so I just knew what a lot of things meant, but explaining it was so hard. Sometimes, I would have to look it up or admit defeat. For example I could explain what "water under the bridge" meant, but at the time I couldn't tell them where the phrase came from and why it meant that. Also, I had to tell them that I had tendency to use some words or phrases that some English speakers don't typically use, because I've read so many books and know some random, obscure words and sayings. :)

Well maybe the use of silly has a slightly different connotation to it for you than it does where I am from. Like how some people say "wicked good" when others may never even think to use wicked in a positive way.

Do you happen to know the origin of the term "egging me on?" I grew up saying it and even I find it a bit peculiar.

I didn't know and I was curious, so I tried looking for the origin on Google. I looked at a few etymology sites and there seems to be some disagreement as to the origin. The most common theory I saw was that it came from a very old Norse word "eggja" which means to goad or incite.

It's been my experience that many English sayings are the punchline of obsolete dirty jokes. For example being lead around by the nose really means you're being lead around by the dick. I know others but for some reason I can only remember one at a time.

There are probably some sayings where that is the case, but probably not "lead around by the nose." This refers to how some cows have a ring that goes through their nose; people then use the ring to lead them around.

Now I remember why I never comment on these sites. I did and someone deleted my account. Now I have to rebuild all of my manga. I thought it would be fun to talk with other manga fans, because most of my friends are not interested in it, but I will stop from now on. Apparently, it is not worth it.

Its alright to correct grammars and spellings thats given but you have no right to call a person silly especially if you're not familiar with them. To be called such names was totally uncalled for. Be mindful of your words.

Language is never set in stone, it is constantly changing. I think the definition of the word silly has become lighter since it was last defined. I do admit that it may have been wiser to consider how others may interpret my words, but I assure you that I meant nothing by it when I called the translator silly. I understand yours and others' concern for negative comments directed at someone who has brought much fun into all of our lives by taking the time to translate this work of art, but there is no reason to harass someone who has already made it clear that they had nothing but good intentions when writing this comment.
