I never realized that the prequel of this was written by the same person who writes Honto Yajuu. Man, has their art improved!
I will tell you why you got dislikes. Honto Yajuu came out in 2008. Brothers came out in 2001. And it's pretty easy to see that the author of Honto Yajuu is the same author of Brothers. The art looks way too similar for it not to be. For example, with Harada sensei. You can always tell when Harada is involved/creator of the work because of their certain kind of style in their art.
Okay, I am done rambling. (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
Don't sweat the hostility. Most asshole commentators either can't understand complex English or are lonely and need attention. The rest of us understood that you were complimenting the mangaka on their improvement over the course of time when some mangaka's works have devolved. An artist who truly enjoys the work will continue to improve right up to the end, unless something like illness bars them from doing so. Others, who do it because they must eat, will slowly begin to become sloppy and careless. Obviously, sensei truly enjoys the work.
After watching Fruits Basket I've always held a grudge against the rat and got pissed off every time I heard the story of the zodiac but this manga is actually giving me closure.
Fruits basket upset me because Yuki was such a self intitled asshole despite ruining the cats life. Kyo had a reason to be angry, Yuki was just an asshole who thought his problems of hating his family were more important than Kyo being outcast by his family. Yuki had no reason to be mad at Kyo specifically, he was just pushing his own problems on him and it pissed me off.
Actually Yuki was complexed, he was jealous of Kyo and the fact that Kyo hated him didn't help their relationship (remember when they were little Yuki admired Kyo (and his hair lol) and tried to talk to him but Kyo rejected him). Not saying it's a legit reason to hate him that much but i don't think it's just venting his problems on Kyo, it's a bit more complicated. Humans are complicated :)
"his problems of hating his family were more important than Kyo being outcast by his family" Also please don't make FB a competition of who got it worse. Yuki didn't just hate his family, he was sold by his parents, considered like an object/toy, neglected and severely abused by his family, beaten by Akito, sometimes locked in dark rooms for days, he didn't have the right to talk to other people, his brother didn't acknowledge his existence etc etc.
Kyo's life was hell, but don't belittle Yuki's legit problems bc of that!! Acknowledging their problems is the best way to understand the person they became and how this twisted relationship was built ^^
(yea i'm defending yuki but i want to precise he's not my fave i'm just a SUPER fan of fruits basket who's trying to be the more objective possible haha)
I never said Kyos problems were more important than Yukis or vise versa, just that Yuki acted like his problems were worse. You can't just misquote me by taking the word "thought" out. My point was that Yuki took his problems out on Kyo. Kyo was carrying the grudge of his ansestors so he had reason to resent Yuki but if Yuki had actually been nice to Kyo I bet he could've gotten over it. But no, Yuki decided to be a douche.
