If you were in this situation and was being told that someone had sex with your partner, knowing that these things are part of their job, realistically you would at least be somewhat swayed. There's nothing wrong with changing your mind but it was also made clear to him that if this situation was not okay with him they can't be in a relationship, he had set his boundaries from the start and his past relationships ended for the same reason why should this be any different? Cuz he's the "main character" so he's allowed to cross any boundaries he wants?
