Ik but didnt he know too much about the prisoner? It just seemed sus when I was reading it. He knew the both the spell on the collar and the curse. He also said that magicians like finding things to experiment on. Wouldnt that be sus enough to not full trust him there would be a chance hes playing a trick on her to test something out as an "experiment". Also how tf did he get in the prison in order to go undercover. Did he commit a crime to get in or did he use magic to make everyone think he did a crime in order to get into the jail. Everything about him is just sus from the start.
Undercover for me means that there are ppl backing him up and create him a fake background.
And yeah he is sus, bc we know that eventually he'll stand beside the ML but we are 3 (?) Years in the past compared to that. It is plausible that he wasnt on his side in the beginning and wanted to experiment alone; only later did he turn around and become his ally. (So it was a dangerous move from miss "i know all ppl here from good to bad" FL --i mean extra --i mean no one.)
I believe that the mage does this whole undercover shit for the ML (either to experiment or set him free for being appointed by someone higher)
The possibility are endless but there will only be one outcome in a story :/
Maybe one day we will get more info or backstory detailing about each individual character besides mc.
(Sorta like what step mothers marchen does)
